Every day, you witness heartbreaking trauma. Whether it’s loss of life, loss of property and memories, or just humanity at its worst, you’re exposed to sadness and hardship regularly.

You chose this field because you want to help people, but it’s increasingly affecting your health and sanity.

The job is causing problems in your marriage and with your family.

Most of the time, you think, “I can handle it,” but pushing it down and trying to forget about it isn’t working for you anymore.

Intensive care is needed.

In therapy, it’s essential that you feel heard and understood.

Think of therapy as an opportunity for you and me to get together in a judgment-free environment and discuss what you consider most important, whether the topic is how you feel about yourself or how you deal with the world around you.

We will set goals and develop the tools needed to achieve them. In therapy, I encourage and support you as you begin to live your life differently. As your therapist, I am also here to challenge you and keep you accountable, so you don’t fall back into old habits.

Therapy is a confidential and safe place; that’s all about you.

As a first responder, regular therapy for trauma doesn’t always work for you. Most people experience trauma once, and then they work with a therapist to overcome it. You are forced to deal with it regularly. How do you move on from something if you’re constantly exposed to it?

I am a fully licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has undergone specialty training to work with first responders. For the past 22 years, I have also been married to a first responder. Based on my experiences, I know the importance of having a therapist who understands the coping mechanisms that you have created to help you deal with your job.

Through therapy, you’ll learn how to process the things you’ve seen and build resiliency to continue your work. Therapy will help you separate your job as a first responder from your personal life. It’ll help you deal with the anger and the negative thoughts that creep into your head.
